GTB fashion weekend

Word on the street is that this year’s GTB Fashion Weekend promises to be bigger than the previous edition. The third edition of “Africa’s Finest” fashion exhibition is scheduled to hold on the 1oth and 11th of November, 2018 at Plot 1, Water Corporation Drive, Oniru Estate, Victoria Island.

The GTBank Fashion Weekend, which is free to attend, will feature fashion and entrepreneurial masterclasses facilitated by internationally renowned fashion experts as well as runway shows that will present the latest in fashion styles and design trends.

No doubt, the much anticipated weekend will be brimming with a lot of fashion buzz. There is definitely going to be a lot of comparison between this event and the recently concluded Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week.

If you attended the first two editions you probably know what to expect and how things are done, yet if you are a first timer you need not worry we’re sharing a few things you should expect at the event and also how you can make it a memorable one.

1. The Masterclasses

This is arguably the most eye-catching activity and the best part is attendance is absolutely free. Attendees only have to register for the classes before the registration closes.

The master class series provides fashion entrepreneurs and creatives with the unique opportunity to learn from internationally recognised professionals and experienced brands.

This year’s edition has a long list of the hottest talents in the fashion industry which include  Jay Manuel, the Host of The Style Networks’ makeover series, “Style Her Famous”, Fashion insider, Kahlana Barfield Brown, Instyle’s Senior Fashion Editor,  Nikki Ogunnaike and a host of others.

2. The shopping experience

With an overall vision of Promoting Enterprise, the Weekend will provide more than 130 small businesses with free stalls to showcase and sell the finest ensemble of apparels and fashion accessories.

There will also be pop-up stands where budding indigenous designers will display their works and interact with some of Africa’s most passionate fashionistas. So come with enough cash and shop till you drop.

3. The street style

As with every fashion event, the street style is always on people’s minds. There will be a lot of fashion enthusiasts, writers, bloggers and photographers at the event who are looking to showcase their best looks and probably get featured on a fashion site or blog. You can equally get some style inspiration for yourself.

Ensure you dress to the nines but remember that comfort is key so while you want to look good you also want to be comfortable.
