Many women have turned to wigs as a protective style for their hair. This is not surprising as wigs are easy to style and save you the time of going to the hair salon.
To make these wigs look really natural, closures come in handy. Closures are basically the finishing of the wig.
A closure is just hair that is placed on top of a lace or silk material and attached to your hair. Closures are used to achieve a more natural look when you are wearing a wig or a weave. They can be sewn, taped, or glued down.
The most important thing to know is that no matter the attachment method, the result will be the same and very desirable so to say.
Closures come in different sizes. The different sizes of closures are always as normal closures (2×4 or 4×4), Full Frontal or Ear to Ear Frontal, and 360 Frontal.
Not sure which hair closure would work for you? Here are the different types of hair closures
1. Lace Closure
The lace closure is an off circle shape of lace that has hair attached to it. At an estimated sizing of 4 x 4, these closures are small. They are often placed at the top of your head to generate a more natural look which is extremely important.
It allows you the option to have no real hair left out when wearing a full head of weave.
Lace closures have 3 different parts:
- One part also is known as the middle part
- Free part
The one part closure can only be styled from that part. They are usually in the middle or on one side.
The three-part closure is more liberal than the rest. It provides better styling options for you since you can style it from any side of your head or the middle part the choice is yours.
The free part closure is the real deal. With your free part closure, which we highly recommend, you can style your weave however you like. That is the most critical part about lace closures that you need to know before purchasing closures for weaves.
2. Lace Frontal
It is an ear to ear stretch of lace that has hair attached.
Also known as Lace Front Closures, they are useful when you are looking to create a new hairline from ear to ear.
They are preferred because frontals happen to be very versatile and portray a natural look.
Lace frontals are usually bigger than lace closures because they are about 13×4 in size.
A lace frontal can be styled differently hence promoting your creativity because it does not have any styling limitations, unlike a lace frontal. It can also be parted in many ways; middle, side, or three-part style.
3. Silk base closure
A silk base closure is made with a silk base. They are made with hair strands embedded into a nude, skin-like silk material that is reinforced with lace.
Silk-based closures also come in a 4×4 size. These closures do not always lay as flat as the lace closure, but they deliver a look that rivals a natural scalp. Silk base closures have a tendency to last much longer than lace closures.
4. The 360 Frontal
The 360 frontal is a lace headband with hair attached to it. It recreates the complete hairline around the entire head. This frontal allows you to rock pretty much any hairstyle.
What this means is that a 360 frontal is made with the aim of surrounding the whole hairline from front to back and also the sides.
The 360 frontal has the most natural look because it replicates your hairline. The flexibility of having a 360 frontal as a type of closure for your weave is amazing.
For all the ladies who love wearing their hair in a ponytail, here is the closure for you. You do not have to worry about your hairline looking shaggy anymore because the 360 frontal is the way to go.
Most women love playing around with their baby hairs. They like to show how creative they are with hair gel and their baby hairs. This is the advantage it offers.
