Nigerian Hair Entrepreneur Helen Williams Sets Guinness World Record For Longest Handmade Wig

Helen Williams receives her GWR for the world’s longest handmade wig.

A Nigerian wig maker, Helen Williams, has written her name in the history books of the Guinness World Records (GWR) for making the longest handmade wig ever.

What is more remarkable is that she is the first person in the world to set this record.

According to the GWR website, the longest handmade wig is 351.28 m (1,152 ft 5 in) and was set in Abule Egba, Nigeria, on July 7, 2023.

Williams, an entrepreneur, wigmaker, wig instructor, and the CEO of Hair Rite 9ja started her hair business in 2019.

As a child, she had always set her eyes on attempting the Guinness World Records as she grew up reading the books.

A video shared on her Instagram shows the wigmaker receiving her record months after completing the feat.

She wrote: Certificate Arrived Today, Astonished. Thanks @guinnessworldrecords and everyone that made this possible.
