Here’s How Lupita Nyong’o Is Teaching Children To Love Their Skin Complexion
Renowned actress, Lupita Nyong’o, shared a post on Instagram that contained the cover for her new book, Sulwe. It is a book of the children’s literature genre which aims at encouraging kids to love themselves.
Lupita Nyong’o wrote:
“I wrote a book! It’s called #Sulwe! This is the cover I’m thrilled to share it with you. Sulwe is out October 1 and is available for pre-order today at the link in bio! I wrote #Sulwe to encourage children (and everyone really!) to love the skin that they re in and see the beauty that radiates from within.”
The book centres on colorism, self-esteem, and learning that true beauty comes from within.
The main character is a 5-year-old girl growing up in Kenya, and her name is Sulwe. She has the darkest skin color in her family, and this makes her eager to try to get a lighter skin in any way possible.
With her adventures unfolding, and with support from her mothersm advice, Sulwe learns to see true beauty.
Sulwe is out October 1 and is available for pre-order effective from April 2nd 2019.
