Recipe: How To Make Sardine Bread

Sardine Bread

If you love bread and fish sandwiches, then you would love the Sardine bread, as it gives you a two-in-one feel.

Make your sardine bread at home with these steps.

Ingredients

  • 4 Cups of all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
  • 3 Tablespoons of  yeast
  • 3 Tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 7 Tablespoons of butter
  • 250 ml of warm milk
  • 10 Tablespoons of water
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 sardine tin (or according to preference)
  • Egg and milk for glazing

Preparation

1. Mix your warm milk and yeast together and leave aside for at least 15 minutes until it is foamy.

2. Mix the flour, sugar, and salt thoroughly in a bowl, then add the whisked eggs. Mix properly using a spatula or your hand. Then you add the melted butter and mix thoroughly.

3. Add your yeast and milk and mix thoroughly (you can use a mixer or your hands) till it becomes a dough. The dough will become sticky and soft.

4. Place the dough on a floured surface so as not to stick to the surface. Sprinkle flour on the dough too.

5. Knead your dough on the surface with your hands or a roller, whichever is most convenient. Knead the dough for about 5–7 minutes.

6. Return the dough to the bowl and cover it with a neat white piece of cloth. Place the bowl in the oven and let it stay there for about an hour.  After an hour, knead the dough again for about 5-7 minutes and put it back in the oven for another 45 minutes so that it will rise. Bring it out, then knead again.

7. Mash your sardine. Then add the mashed sardine, sardine oil, and knead. Now place the dough in a bread pan  coated with butter and evenly spread it in your pan.

8. Put a white piece of cloth over the pan containing the dough and leave it to rise in a warm place for about 15 minutes. Preheat your oven to 280 degrees.

9. When the oven is ready, place the pan in the oven and bake for about 60–80 minutes. Bring it out and it’s ready.
