A Profile On Popular Singer, Aramide as She Turns A Year Older


Aramide Sarumoh popularly known as Aramidemusic is a Nigerian Afro-soul singer, guitarist, and songwriter.

Her genre of music is one of the things that stands her out in the entertainment industry.

Here are a few things to know about her.

Early Life

She was born Aramide Sarumoh on June 22, 1985. Her early childhood was in Jos.

She graduated from the University of Jos with a degree in political science

Aramide grew up in a music orientated family which harnessed her love for music.

She began learning how to play the guitar and the saxophone after secondary school, two instruments she is quite passionate about.

Career

The starting point of her career was when she participated in a musical talent hunt show called ‘Star Quest’ in 2006 where she and her band members were 3rd Runners Up.

In 2008, she was part of a show called ‘Divas Unplugged’, a show containing all the leading female artistes in the Nigerian music industry hosted in Jos, Nigeria.

In 2011, Aramide released her first official track “Killing Me” a song produced by Sizzle.

In 2012 she released another single “It’s Over” and later released the video in 2017.

On February 3rd, 2014 she released her third single “Felling the Feeling”.


Her first two singles were released under Trybe Records and on September 9, 2014, she got signed to Baseline Music after exiting from Trybe Records.

She released her first song under “Iwo Nikan” on February 4th, 2015 which got her the first professional award of her career at the Headies 2015 edition.

Her song “Iwo Nikan” was her breakthrough in the Nigerian music industry.

On November 22, 2016, Aramide’s debut album Suitcase was released. It features guest appearances like Sound Sultan, Ice Prince, Adekunle Gold, Koker, and Sir Dauda.

The album was produced by Cobhams, Laitan Dada, Sizzle Pro, and Tintin.

In 2017, Aramide embarked on her debut world tour which took place in the United States, Ghana, and Nigeria titled “Aramide Suitcase Live” (ASL).

Personal Life

Aramide Sarumoh got married to her sweetheart, Pelumi Alli, on April 18, 2015, at the Muave Event Centre Ibadan.

On December 26, 2019, she welcomed a baby girl Anjolaoluwa.

Awards

  • Best Vocal Performance (Female) Category at the 2015 edition of the Headies Award.
  • Alternative Artist of The Year award at the 2016 edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Award (NEA).
  • Best Female Artist in West Africa at the 2016 edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA)
  • City People Music Award for Alternative Artist of the Year 2017.
  • Best Alternative Song for her single “Funmi Lowo” at the 2018 edition of the Headies Award.

Achievements

She has an event called ‘Songversation With Aramide’. The event is held annually to mark the International Women’s Day through the promotion of positive narratives for Nigerian women.

She was appointed into the Washington DC’s chapter of the Recording Academy Board of Governors in June 2019.
