Adunni Ade is a Nigerian actress, model, producer, and influencer. Her talent, glowing skin, and brains will give you a run for your money any day. It is not surprising that she made it to the mainstream of Nollywood not long after she branched into acting.

Here are some interesting things to know about her.

Early Life

She was born Adunni Adewale on June 7th to a Nigerian father and a German/Irish mother in Queens, New York. She returned to Nigeria when she was a year and a half old with her parents to attend her grandfather’s burial.

Education

She had her primary education at Chrisland School, Ikeja, Lagos, while her secondary school education was at Bells Secondary School in Ota. Afterwards, she relocated to America, where she studied accounting at the University of Kentucky.

Career

Before her return to Nigeria, she worked in the housing and insurance sectors in the United States before making a career change. She worked with the State of Kentucky in the housing sector and also with the State of Maryland, providing medical insurance.

While she was in America, she ventured into modeling and was featured on America’s Next Top Model. She made her debut in the Nigerian movie industry around 2013 when she started uploading her skits online.

She made her acting debut in You or I, produced by Saheed Balogun in 2013, after moving back to Nigeria.

Her short video comedy skit, Date Gone Bad, which was released on YouTube in 2014, recorded more than 170,000 hits.

She wrote and produced her first Yoruba movie, Emi Mi – My Soul, directed by Saheed Balogun in 2018. In 2021, she debuted her first film as an executive producer, titled Soole, under her production company, Lou-Ellen Clara Company Limited.

Adunni Ade has featured in over 100 Nollywood movies in both English and Yoruba languages, including What’s Within (2014), So in Love (2015), It’s Her Day (2016), The Island (2017), House of Contention (2019), Soole (2021), Alaga (2022), The Perfect Arrangement (2022), The Devil You Know (2023), and Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti (2024).

She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the AMVCA awards in 2017 for her role in It’s Her Day.

Personal life

She has never been married, but she is a proud mother of three children: sons Ayden Young and D’marion Young and daughter Baby Sal, whom she welcomed in 2024. She was in a long-term relationship with the father of her two kids, but it did not end in marriage.

In 2020, she announced that she had converted to Islam, a decision she said was personal and was influenced by her Muslim upbringing.
