Joe Biden Appoints Nigerian-American, Chiney Ogwumike To Advisory Council


U.S. President Joe Biden has appointed a Nigerian American, Chiney Ogwumike as part of the 12 members of the President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States.

Born March 21, 1992, Chiney Ogwumike is a two-time WNBA All-Star for the Los Angeles Sparks and a full-time, multi-platform ESPN commentator and NBA analyst. She is a graduate of International relations from Stanford University.

Ogwumike was one of the first and youngest commentators to be named an NBA analyst. In 2016, Ogwumike was elected vice president of the WNBA Players Association and she also signed an endorsement deal with Adidas.


In May 2018, Ogwumike signed a multi-year contract with ESPN to become a full-time basketball analyst.

She became the first Black woman to host a national daily sports-talk radio show in 2020.
