Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has urged Nigerian women to support the fight against illicit drugs. This action would free the society from youths who have poor performance in activities.
She made this call on Sunday during a visit with the Presidential Advisory Committee on the Elimination of Drugs Abuse to Women’s Helping Hands Initiative (TWHHI) in Lagos.
TWHHI is Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo’s initiative.
Osinbajo asserted that women have come to realise the ultimate need to support the government in this fight against illicit drugs. She says:
“ If the drug addicts have access to gun, they can walk into a place and kill innocent people. As long as we allow this menace to continue, it makes the society to be unsafe for all. The only thing that can change the drugs’ lives some people are living now is the truth. So we must be an ambassador of sharing the truth.”
The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on the Elimination of Drugs Abuse (PCEDA), Retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa has ordered more technology to enhance the elimination of illicit drugs.
Also, he said that the committee would include penalties for the illicit drugs dealers in order to get rid of this societal ill.
