10 Things About Iyabo Awokoya, The Elderly Woman Slammed On Twitter For Criticising Man Who Wrote IELTS Five Times


All hell was let loose on Sunday, Jan 3 on Twitter after a certain Iyabo Arinola Awokoya had called out a Nigerian named Muyiwa who had shared his relocation Canada photos on Twitter.

Muyiwa was excited his life long dreams had come true despite having to write IELTS five times.

Iyabo in a now-deleted tweet had criticised him for writing the English test IELTS, five times and also for calling Nigeria evil.


This didn’t go down well with Nigerians as they took to the thread to condemn her action. They were angered more when they realised that her children were residing outside the country.

We were able to dig up some facts about her seeing as she had some kind of affiliation to the present government.

Here are some facts about her.

1.Iyabo Awokoya is 59 years old

2.She graduated from Law at the University of Ife (Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1981 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1982.

3. She undertook her compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Oyo State Ministry of Justice and also worked in the chambers of Chief Gani Fawehinmi and Chief Rober Clark respectively.

4. She co-founded the firm of Awokoya, Awokoya & Co with her husband in 1986.

5.She also founded and practices legal consultancy under the name and style of Castalia Consultants.

6. Iyabo is a development and management consultant and practice at Sage’s Consult Limited where she is the Managing Director.

7. She is passionate about training and capacity building and has facilitated numerous trainings for Federal and State Governments MDAs and Agencies and the Private Sector under her firm, Sages Consult.

8. She is also a motivational speaker and a public commentator known for her discourse on public issues.

9. She has authored the following books which include Nigeria: History through her leaders; Arise O Compatriot-A call to patriotism (A civics book for children); The Enigma: Rumblings and ramblings of a Thinker (Co-authored), Just Me (A portrait of myself at 50); The Adventures of High Jumper (a storybook for children).

10. She started a podcast (All About Nigeria) in 2019 focused on being an information bridge for the youths about Nigerian History as well as a forum for having healthy conversations on contemporary Nigerian issues.
