1.Early Life

Lydia Forson was born on the 24th of October, 1984 in the city of Mankessim, Ghana.

She received her early life education at Wilmore Elementary school in Kentucky, U.S.A.

Her family moved back to Ghana when she was 9 where she continued her secondary education at Akosombo International School. She also attended St. Louis Secondary School, Kumasi where she completed her senior secondary school education.

Forson graduated with a Bachelors Degree in English Language and Information Studies from the University of Ghana.

2.Career

Lydia started her career with a cameo role in a movie title Hotel St. James in 2005. She went on to act in several movies like Run Baby Run in 2006, Different Shades of Blue in 2007 and many more.

In 2007, she featured in a reality TV show in Nigeria, The Next Movie Star but she didn’t get to win. She extended her highly popular role as Dea Thompson in a Ghanaian Television series, Scorned. Her role in the television series let to her AMAA award nomination for Best Upcoming Female Actress.


Forson starred in the award-winning The Perfect Picture by Shirley Frimpong-Manso in 2009. She also starred in A Sting in a Tale, Phone Swap, and Masquerades.

Her dynamism in delivering her role in any movie made her work with several producers like Kunle Afolayan, Desmond Elliot etc. Lydia also featured in popular South African soap titled, Scandal.

Lydia also doubles as a script supervisor and editor on most movies she’s featured in. She wrote and produced her first movie, “A Letter From Adam” in 2014 which was nominated in major awards and also selected to be screened at the 23rd Pan African Film Festival, L. A.

In 2017, she featured in the award-winning movie, Isoken.

Lydia Forson is single and has never been married.

4.Awards

In 2010, she won the best actress in a Lead Role at African Movie Academy Award as well as Ghana Movie Awards for the Best Screen Play in the movie, In The Cupboard in 2012.

She was voted Female Personality of the Year at the 2015 Fashion Icon Awards.

She also won Best Supporting Actress for the movie, Isoken at 2018 AMVCA.
