Nigerians are mourning the sudden death of Emilia Asim-Ita, a renowned brand, communications, and development strategist on social media.

The news of her death was announced by the company she founded, AML Media on Friday with the cause of her death unknown.

Here are some things to know about her.

1.Emilia Asim-Ita was in her 30’s.

2. She had a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.

3. She had over 16 years of experience in Marketing and Development Communications.

4. She started her career as Presenter, Book Review Segment, Mind Your Grammar on NTA 2 Channel 5 before working as a Presenter, Youth Talk with Emilia on NTA Network Service for five years.

5. She co-founded ThistlePraxis and The Future Awards/The Future Nigeria Project and was PR/Marketing Director for the convening organisation, RedSTRAT Communications (now RED Media) for six years.

6. In 2005, Emilia alongside Chude Jideonwo and Debola Williams came together and created The Future Awards/ The Future Nigeria project.

7. She was also Strategy & Communications Director, 3AL, Associate Producer and Content Director, The Academy and Amstel Malta Box Office Reality shows.

8. She founded her brand and communications firm, AML Media in 2010.

9. Emilia taught and consulted on Development Communications, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Environmental & Social Risk Management, Corporate Reporting, Advocacy & Policy Influencing, Corporate Governance, Grant Writing, and Executive Coaching amongst many others.

10. She served as a mentor for Queens Young Leaders (YLP) Programme by Cambridge University, United Kingdom, and both Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) and I.N.V.E.N.T. in Nigeria and was an Associate Fellow, Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI), a Global Shaper of World Economic Forum and Member, Global Shapers Advisory Council on Impact after serving as Curator of the Lagos Hub.
