MTN Foundation Executive Secretary, Odunayo Sanya Pays Visit To The MTN MIP 2023 Fellows


The Executive Secretary of the MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya pays a visit to MTN MIP 2 Fellows and gives an overview of the foundation’s activities, growth, and initiatives.

Odunayo Sanya, the Executive Secretary of the MTN Foundation on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, paid a visit to the MTN Media Innovation Programme (MIP) Fellows at the School of Media and Communications, Pan-Atlantic University, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

Before she dived into the main activity of her visit, Sanya congratulated the 20 fellows of the second cohort who were selected from over 2,500 applications. FabWoman.ng founder, Anu Odubanjo is one of the 20 media professionals selected.

She then gave an overview of the MTN Foundation and its commitment to leading the delivery of a bold new digital world. The MTN Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) vehicle of MTN Nigeria was founded in 2004 but officially began operations in 2005.

She highlighted that the purpose of creating the foundation was hinged on the premise that organizations like MTN have a higher purpose and on its core belief which says that “Everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life.”


The Foundation has spent N25.7 billion in empowering Nigerian youths, communities, healthcare development, and educational support since its inception in 2005 reaching 3,319 communities across the country and executing 1,017 projects across the 36 states of the federation.

Through its commitment to youth empowerment and education, She noted that the Foundation had offered 12,736 scholarships across tertiary institutions in Nigeria awarded to 4590, with 400 of such scholarships, offered to students who are blind and have visual impairment.

In the area of women empowerment, the foundation is at the forefront with the Yellowpreneur initiative which seeks to empower female entrepreneurs. So far, 500 female entrepreneurs have been trained under the initiative.

The MTN MIP Programme aimed at empowering journalists and media professionals is in collaboration with the School of Media and Communications, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos.
