Olamide Mojigbotoluwa Adekunle has made history after being elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), making her the youngest woman to attain the position at age 40.
Adekunle was sworn in on October 12, 2026, by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun. Alongside three other women, Soibi Ideriah Ovia, Igonikan Abiola Adekunle, and Olujoke Enitan Aliu, these four female legal practitioners were elevated to the Inner Bar out of the 68 new silks in the 2026 cohort.
Born June 25, 1986, in Kaduna State, but hailing from Ekiti State, she is an alumna of Obafemi Awolowo University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree. Adekunle also holds a Master of Laws degree in International Trade Law from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.
With more than 15 years of legal practice, she has built a career spanning commercial litigation, arbitration, election petition matters, and transactional law.
Her professional experience includes appearances before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
At Afe Babalola & Co., where she serves as a senior partner, Adekunle specializes in oil and gas litigation, arbitration, election petition matters, and commercial and transactional law, as well as consultancy and regulatory compliance.
Reacting to the news via X, her mentor, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, described her professional journey as remarkable.
“It was such a delight to celebrate with my mentee, Mrs. Olamide Mojigbotoluwa Ehinfun-Adekunle, on her elevation to the Inner Bar as the youngest female senior advocate of Nigeria,” he wrote.
Her elevation to SAN marks a significant milestone in her legal career and places her among Nigeria’s most distinguished legal practitioners.
