Sharon Ooja is a Nollywood actress and brand ambassador who has carved a name for herself in Nigeria’s film industry. She shot into the limelight after her role as ‘Shalewa’ in the TV Series, Gidi Up.

Here is a biography of Sharon Ooja.

1. Sharon Ooja Egwurube was born April 6, 1991 in Kaduna State.

2. She hails from the Idoma tribe of Benue State but grew up in  Jos, Plateau State.

3. She attended Kings and Queens School, Jos, for her primary education before proceeding to two all-girls schools – Regina Pacis Secondary School, Garki II, Abuja, and St. Louis Girls’ College, Jos for her secondary education.

4. She graduated with a degree in Mass Communication from Houdegbe North American University in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

5. Sharon worked briefly at a real estate firm before her journey into acting.

6. She began her acting career when she relocated to Lagos in 2013.

7. According to her, she got into acting by mistake. Sharon was doing a photo session for a store and NdaniTV was covering the behind-the-scenes activities of the shoot. The next week, she was invited for an interview for a television show that did not happen. Shortly afterward, she was called to play a small role in the television series, Gidi Up.

8. She, however, rose to fame with her role in Skinny Girls In Transit.

10. She received a special recognition award from The Eko Star Film & TV Awards in March 2021. Some of the nominations she has received include the City People Award for Best New Actress of the Year (English) in 2018, the City People Award for Most Promising Actress of the Year (English) in 2019, and The Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting in 2019.

11. In an interview on Wazobia FM in 2019, Sharon revealed her fears about the kind of men she attracted because of her beauty.

12. Sharon married the love of her life, Ugo Nwoke popularly called Odogwu in a talk-of-the-town wedding on June 29, 2024. In a video, she excitedly shared how she met him and that they dated for two and a half months.

13. She is an ambassador for brands like Schweppes, Boz Diamonds, and VSP Botanicals.
