A bride from Cyprus, Maria Paraskeva, has bagged a Guinness World Record for the ‘longest wedding veil,’ measuring 6,962.6 metres (22,843 ft 2.11 in), a feat she achieved on August 14, 2018.
Guinness World Records shared the video of Paraskeva wearing the veil and further informed that it took six hours and 30 volunteers to deploy the lace veil to its full length.
The caption quoted Paraskeva as well, which read, “My dream as a child has always been to break the Guinness World Records title for the longest wedding veil.”
Paraskeva’s wedding veil is the same length as a 63-and-a-half (63.5) American football field.
The hardest part of the process for Maria was finding a factory that could produce the tulle rolls into a veil that met professional standards and dimensions. This research took her a month.

She finally found a company in Greece that was willing to make the rolls into 1000 m of veils. The factory took 3 months to create and deliver the tulle rolls to Maria’s town of Larnaca.
Her wedding dress and the veil were created to meet professional standards, and the total material cost came to 400 euros. The measurement of the veil had taken place on a school playing field.
Professional tailors then joined all the pieces by hand to create the full wedding veil. To measure the veil, a professional surveyor attended the event.
“I have dreamed of breaking this record for almost my whole life. 30 volunteers helped to make my dream come true.”
