Two women, Adetutu Loren Gomez and Chiamaka Happiness Modestus, have earned national recognition after emerging as the joint female best graduating students and joint second overall at the 2026 Nigerian Law School Call to Bar.
The duo were honoured during the Call to Bar ceremonies held from July 7 to 10 at the Body of Benchers Complex in Abuja, where thousands of newly qualified lawyers were admitted to the Nigerian Bar. Their outstanding academic performance placed them among the highest-performing graduates in the country.
Adetutu Loren Gomez
Adetutu Loren Gomez is a graduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where she studied Law and graduated among the top five percent of her class before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School. She completed her Bar Part II program at the Abuja Campus of the Nigerian Law School.
Her exceptional performance at the Nigerian Law School earned her the title of Joint Female Best Graduating Student and Joint Second Overall, a remarkable feat that reflects years of dedication and academic excellence.
Chiamaka Happiness Modestus
Chiamaka Happiness Modestus is an alumna of Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State. She attended the Port Harcourt Campus of the Nigerian Law School, where she distinguished herself academically throughout the program.
In addition to emerging as Joint Female Best Graduating Student and Joint Second Overall, Modestus also won Third Prize in Criminal Litigation, highlighting her strength in one of the core professional courses offered at the Nigerian Law School.
While Gomez and Modestus shared the honours as Joint Female Best Graduating Students and Joint Second Overall, the Overall Best Graduating Student award went to Israel Adekunle Adeniyi, a graduate of the University of Ilorin, who completed his law school program at the Lagos Campus.
Other top-performing graduates included Timilehin Adebayo and Freedolyn Ani, who emerged as Joint Third Overall.
