Adijat Olarinoye Wins Nigeria’s First Gold At The Commonwealth Games 2022


adijat olarinoyeWeightlifter Adijat Adenike Olarinoye has won Nigeria’s first gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games taking place in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Olarinoye emerged as the overall best in the women’s 55kg weightlifting. She lifted 92kg in the snatch, 111kg in clean and jerk, lifting 203kg in total which is a Commonwealth Games Record.


India’s Sorokhaniban lfter settled for the silver, while England’s Fraer settled for the bronze.

Nigeria currently sits ninth on the medals table with Australia leading the charts with 13 gold, eight silver and 11 bronze.
