- nigerian idols audition 2021, Seyi Shay Gets Dragged On Twiiter Over Verdict On Nigerian Idols Singer
- 0 Comments
Seyi Shay is currently being dragged on Twitter and here is the full story.
The ‘Right Now’ crooner who is currently a judge on the reality music show, Nigerian Idols gave her verdict to a singer at the audition on Sunday.
Seyi Shay had told the singer, “Somebody lied to you and told you to come and audition, and that person, you should go back and tell them they’re not your friends because that was not good audition.
“Oh, you have a good talking voice, and it comes out in your singing voice, but your performance, terrible. You’re never going to make money being a singer.”
Many felt the criticism was rather harsh seeing as the countenance of the singer changed while she was saying those words to him.
See the video of the audition.
Imagine Seyi Shay telling a 17 year old with good voice, who has passion for singing that “YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO MAKE MONEY BEING A SINGER”. Cos you’re God abi?pic.twitter.com/QZsBVNWutG

Here are some reactions.
Seyi Shay should have tried the sandwich approach
Praise first
Criticize
Praise them againThat’s how to give feedback
Eg: nice voice, I think your performance could be better if trained, once again, nice voice.
How you say a thing matters also.

The Seyi shay situation is typical of women in positions, especially when the recipient is of opposite gender. We witness it everyday.. in school, in offices. Everywhere

Reacting to the backlash, Seyi Shay took to her page to write:
