September 14th was one of the most incredible days of my life because God blessed my husband and I with the most beautiful and perfect little girl. Prior to this date I had done everything I thought I could to prepare for this moment as I was determined to have an all natural birth w/o any anesthetics. People thought that I was playing and/or wouldn’t be able to manage when that time came, and truth be told their doubt started to have an impact on my confidence. But thankfully I didn’t fully succumb to that doubt and fear. Days before going into labor I began to remind myself of God’s word, His promises and began speaking it over my life and my unborn child’s life. I knew that His strength would be made perfect in my weakness, that I wasn’t given the spirit of fear, His peace would guard my heart and mind, etc. I also knew that childbirth did not have to be so painful. Side note: yes, I knew it would hurt, but I also knew that MY experience didn’t have to be like that of other women. In Genesis 3:16 KJV it specifically says “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy SORROW and thy conception; in SORROW thou shalt bring forth children…” (other versions say pain but sorrow doesn’t necessarily mean physical pain) and I BELIEVED that wholeheartedly! I made my requests known to God and boooooy did He deliver! I wanted to do all of my laboring at home–which happened. I wanted it to be very quick–which happened. And though it was a little too quick (I felt her head coming out on Torrance Blvd, just a block away from the hospital) The Lord kept us covered and protected the entire time. When I got to the hospital I was fully dilated and 5/6 pushes later my princess was here…All natural with no medication as a first timer!!! I don’t share my experience to brag or boast, though I am extremely proud of myself, but to encourage you women out there who want a certain birthing experience to believe in God’s word as stand FIRM in it! But it’s okay if it doesn’t happen exactly the way you want. Just don’t make the same mistake as I did and have these expectations based off other people’s experiences. That brings about fear and that’s not what God wants for you ?
