Meet Captain Simisola Ajibola, The Air Peace Pilot Making Headlines After Averting A National Tragedy


Air Peace pilot, Captain Simisola Ajibola has been commended after she helped avert what could have been a national disaster on Tuesday, July 23.

The Boeing 737 aircraft, from Port Harcourt with over 130 passengers, was said to have experienced turbulence due to the weather and the pilot reportedly requested a longer runway.

The aircraft suffered a hard landing, causing both nose wheels to separate from the nose gear strut. The plane skidded down the runway balanced on its main wheels and the remains of the nose gear strut till It finally came to a halt safely.

Many who flew have commended her calm demeanor, professionalism and leadership as she engaged and encouraged passengers and her team through the process.

Sinmisola, who joined Air Peace in February 2017 as a Senior First Officer (SFO), made history as the airline’s first female captain.


She became the first female captain to be decorated by Air Peace airlines in June 2018.

A few days later, She led the airline’s historic all-female crew from Lagos to Abuja, Owerri, Imo state and back to Lagos.

She is also from a family of pilots – father and two brothers, the three siblings all work for Air Peace.
