Chidinma Adetshina has emerged as the winner of the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant. The pageant’s grand finale was held at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island Lagos on Saturday, August 31.
Recall that Adetshina withdrew from the Miss South Africa 2024 pageant over identity allegations. However, she received an invitation from Silverbird group, the organizers of the pageant to join the Miss Universe Nigeria competition which she accepted.
Adetshina who represented Taraba State was crowned the winner after edging out four other finalists including Miss Rivers State, Miss Anambra State, Miss Ondo State, and Miss Edo State to clinch the title.
As the winner of the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 competition, Chidinma Adetshina walks home with the grand prize of N10 million in cash alongside other prizes.
She will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico this November, this year, while Miss Anambra who emerged as first runner- up will participate in the Miss Supranational pageant.

Adetshina’s Miss Universe win trends on social media
Her win as Miss Universe Nigeria has sparked reactions online. Not a few netizens feel that her win was unfair to other participants who had spent weeks practicing and training while others think she deserved it.
Social media influencer, Daniel Regha is one of the people who feel her win was undeserved.
Taking to X, he wrote:
“Honestly speaking, it just feels too predictable & so wrong that Chidimma who became a contestant last minute is being crowned the winner of Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. Other contestants didn’t really stand a chance the moment she entered the competition & that’s the truth”.
Social media activist, Rinu on her part congratulated Adetshina. She wrote:
“Congratulations Miss Chidinma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. The more they cry, the more you win.”
Here are some reactions.
Chidinma Vanessa Adetshina entered Miss South Africa 2024, became top 11 finalist, South Africans cried.
She left Miss SA, came to Nigeria, won Miss Universe Nigeria, yet South Africans are still crying.
The “Bathong Wena” squad never stopped crying since Apartheid! 😂

🇳🇬 Nigeria couldn’t even get a Nigerian woman who grew up in Nigeria to win Miss Nigeria.

Chidinma’s win reminds us of a simple timeless truth: naysayers can’t stop you—only you can. She’s proven once again that it’s possible to rise above doubt and negativity.
