25 Years After, Nigeria’s First Olympic Gold Medalist, Chioma Ajunwa Gets A House In Lagos

Chioma Ajunwa

The Lagos State Government has given Olympic champion Chioma Ajunwa a 3-bedroom flat located at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Housing Estate, Iponri.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement on Wednesday, June 24, said it was in line with fulfilling a 25-year-old promise after Ajunwa’s historic win.

Recall that Ajunwa, now an assistant commissioner of police, set a record as the first Black woman and Nigerian to win a gold medal at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.

Delay is definitely not denial, and we say congratulations to her.
