Just days after turning 40, music icon Ciara made her debut in Nigeria, officially touching down in Lagos ahead of the 15th anniversary of Lagos Fashion Week 2025, which also marked her first-ever appearance at the continent’s biggest fashion showcase.
The Grammy award-winning singer was received by the Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and a team from the governor’s office.
Dressed casually yet chic in denim and designer sunglasses, Ciara waved to cheering fans at the airport, hinting at the star power she was about to bring to the Lagos runway.
The singer later made her runway debut for Nigerian designer Kanyinsola Onalaja on Thursday, wearing a body-hugging long-sleeved dress that had a mix of orange and blue.
Her walk drew cheers, applause, and countless phone flashes as the crowd celebrated one of Lagos Fashion Week’s most iconic moments yet.
Her presence at the Fashion Week provided a powerful moment for diversity and cultural exchange.
It couldn’t have come at a better time, as Lagos Fashion Week celebrates its 15th anniversary. It not only represents how far African fashion has come, but also how global stars are now choosing to be part of the story.
Her debut not only elevated the event’s international profile but also inspired a new wave of collaboration between African designers and global icons.
