Barrister Damilola Marshal, daughter of legendary Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has officially announced her intention to contest the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly election for Surulere Constituency II.
Marshal, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, made this known via her Instagram handle on Tuesday.
“I am excited to share that I, Barrister Damilola Ayinde Marshall, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she said.
Describing herself as “a woman of excellence and results,” Marshall added, “I am ready to serve and lead. For 12 years, I have practiced as a lawyer, and that experience has shaped my understanding of governance, justice, and the real needs of my people.”
She also pledged to advocate strongly for issues affecting young Lagosians if elected.
“I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House. As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need right now, and that is why I decided to step forward.”
Emphasizing her connection with younger constituents, she added, “I listen to the youths because I am one of you, and I understand what we truly need. That is exactly why I’m here to serve.”
Marshal was called to the Nigerian Bar on December 15, 2015. She studied law at North America University, Houdegbe, in Cotonou, and later obtained a master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.
Marshal is expected to succeed Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, who currently represents the constituency under the All Progressives Congress.
Sanwo-Olu appointed Marshal as his senior special assistant on tourism on May 3, 2024.
