Outrage On Social Media Over Killing And Burning To Death Of Female Student, Deborah Samuel In Sokoto


There is an outrage on social media over the gruesome death of Deborah Samuel, a student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education.

Samuel was stoned, killed, and burnt in Sokoto by irate youths over alleged blasphemy.

According to the police, the level-two student was accused of making a social media post that blasphemed the holy prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The police said the students forcefully removed the victim from the security room where she was hidden by the school authorities, killed her, and burnt the building.

Videos on social media show men stoning and flogging a motionless body draped in red attire.

Some footage also captured a raging fire as a man faced the camera, claiming that he killed and burnt her, and brandishing a matchbox.

The deceased was said to have lived with her parents in the Old Airport Road area of the Sokoto metropolis. The Police said they have arrested some persons in connection with the murder

The act has sparked reactions on Twitter as many are condemning the act.
