A woman Doreen Moraa Moracha who was born with HIV has taken to social media to celebrate herself on her 28th birthday.
The Kenyan HIV advocate says her parents discovered her status when she was eight years old and she knew about her status when she was thirteen years old.
She was born to an HIV discordant couple (Mother is positive and father is negative).
She is the third born and her three other siblings are negative.
In 2015, Doreen went public with her status via a Facebook post and since then, she has been an HIV Positive advocate using several national, continental and global platforms to talk about HIV in all its ramifications. She has taken part in and still taking part in several international campaigns.
Doreen who turned 28 on Aug 8 said doctors had said she may not live to see her 12th birthday because of an infection.
20 years ago a day like today on my 8th birthday I got a herpes zoster infection on my face the scar is still there that infection led to my official HIV diagnosis my doctors were skeptical I’d see my 12th birthday here I am celebrating yr 28 GOD IS NOT DONE WITH ME YET??? pic.twitter.com/uhvf9o1oJG

I am not HIV,I am living with HIV
I am not the virus,I’m just hosting the virus.I don’t let my HIV status define me,I define it
I AM A BEAUTIFUL STORY
I AM GREATER THAN HIV.
Goodmorning and a blessed new week.#mondaythoughts#MondayMotivaton
