Wife Of Derek Chauvin, The Police Officer Who Murdered George Floyd, Files For Divorce


The world is still talking about the gruesome murder of George Floyd.

Kellie, wife of Derek Chauvin, the police officer who killed George is filing for divorce after ten years of marriage.

According to a statement by her lawyer, Kellie is saddened by George’s death.

“Her utmost sympathy lies with [Floyd’s] family, with his loved ones and with everyone who is grieving this tragedy,” the statement read in part.

“While Ms. Chauvin has no children from her current marriage, she respectfully requests that her children, her elder parents, and her extended family be given safety and privacy during this difficult time.”


A video surfaced showing Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for eight minutes minutes while arresting him on Monday.

“Please, please, please, I can’t breathe,” Floyd can be heard saying in a video of the arrest. “Don’t kill me.” He was pronounced death shortly after.

Derek Chauvin was arrested on Friday and is facing third-degree murder charges and manslaughter.

He and three other officers were fired Tuesday in connection with Floyd’s death on Monday.

Kellie Chauvin was born in Laos in 1974 during a time of war. In 1977, her family fled to safety in Thailand, where they lived in a refugee camp, The Associated Press reported. In 2018, she was crowned Mrs. Minnesota.
