  • Ilebaye has emerged winner of the Big Brother Naija All-Stars Season. We take a look at some factors that enabled her to win.

After 72 days, Ilebaye Odiniya was crowned winner of the Big Brother Naija All Stars Season on Sunday, October 1.

Six finalists were left in the house, Cross, Pere, Adekunle, CeeC, Mercy, and Ilebaye.

The night started with Cross being evicted, followed by Pere and Cross, leaving Ceec, Mercy, and Ilebaye in the top three, the first time in the history of Big Brother Naija that the top three are of the same gender (female).

Ceec, was next to be evicted in the night, leaving Mercy Eke and Ilebaye as the top two.

With her win, Kogi-born Ilebaye goes home with a cash prize of N120m and other mouth-watering prizes.

FabWoman.ng looks at three factors that played a role in Ilebaye’s win.

1. Bullying

Given her age, Ilebaye didn’t stand a chance to go far in the show. As the youngest in the house, the Gen Z baddie was made a target and was bullied by most of the housemates.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was when Ike scattered her locker and threw her clothes on the bathroom floor while she slept, an action that was designed to provoke her to react in a bid to get her disqualified from the show. This act took place after a discussion between Ike, Kiddwaya, Seyi, and Pere.

She already had two strikes having escaped disqualification by whiskers after an altercation with CeeC the previous week. Venita and Seyi were witnesses to the situation and they had reacted by laughing. Mercy, on the other hand,  had helped her pick up the clothes and sanitize them.

Ilebaye’s response was unexpected as she calmly picked up her clothes and put them away. This sparked reactions from viewers who felt Ike went too far with his action and it ultimately changed the game for Ilebaye.

2. Strategy

With a lot at stake in terms of prize money and opportunities, the Big Brother show is a game and to stand a better chance at winning, it’s best to have a strategy.

Ilebaye may have been the youngest at 22 but she was strategic about her game. From her constant altercations to her presumed romance with Cross and winning wager tasks,  she definitely got the viewers and fans alike hooked on the show with her authenticity and highlights.

3. Second chance

Ilebaye was the third housemate to be evicted from Big Brother Naija Season 7 with little to show.

Among the six finalists on Sunday, She was the only one who had never been a finalist previously.

Sometimes, all a person needs is a second chance to make their mark and rewrite destiny. For the All Stars show, a number of ex-housemates who were invited didn’t honour the invitation due to one reason or the other.

If she hadn’t returned to the show the second time, then a shot at winning would not have arisen.

By and large, it was destined for her to win the Big Brother All-Stars, and everything aligned in her favour.
