55-Year-Old Widow Of Late Afenifere Spokesman Yinka Odumakin Gives Birth To Twins Six Months After His Death

Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, the 55-year-old widow of the late Afenifere spokesperson, Yinka Odumakin, has given birth to twins six months after her husband’s death.

Odumakin had died on April 3, 2021, aged 54 at the COVID-19 Isolation Centre of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital due to complications from COVID-19.

“Part Of Me Is Gone” – Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin Weeps, Confirms Death Of Husband, Yinka Odumakin

Okei-Odumakin made the announcement on Sunday in a statement titled “Yinka Odumakin returns” adding that “mother and the babies are in excellent health condition”.

The twins, a boy, and a girl were delivered at a United States of America hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

She noted that it was a dream come true, adding that the twins came 18 years after her last childbirth.

The statement read:

“The “miracle” birth fulfilled the wishes of the late Odumakin towards the end of his sojourn on earth to have another baby to be named after him.

“After YO, as he is fondly called, survived a three-day coma in 2020 and a few months before he succumbed to the illness that eventually but unexpectedly claimed his life, YO, he developed a strong desire for him and his wife to have another baby.

“Thank God l did not dither or procrastinate as l took in just about the time YO took ill and never recovered.

“It was good news that l conceived but YO never got to hear the news of his wishes coming to pass as he did not make it out of the ventilator,” she said.

Okei-Odumakin explained that her late husband, however, prophetically left words concerning what the baby or babies should be called if his wishes materialised.

According to her, “YO was so accurate in his predictions that they could be twins (and their sex) that he gave the names of the babies and told his wife how he would raise them.

She said while many may interpret this to mean that YO had a premonition about his death, it was only a strong desire expressed by him to have babies that he would dot over and who would possibly step into his “aluta” shoes.

The couple got married in 1997, had their first baby girl in 2000 and the second, a boy, in 2003.

The girl was named after Joe, while the boy was named Abraham after the late Afenifere leader, Pa Abraham Adesanya.
