Vice President, Kamala Harris has announced Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz as her Democratic running mate for the 2024 presidential election.

Harris and Walz are running against the Republican ticket of former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio.

The duo will appear together in their first joint rally in Philadelphia later today (Tuesday).

In a campaign social media post via X, Kamala wrote:

I am proud to announce that I’ve asked @Tim_Walz  to be my running mate. As a governor, a coach, a teacher, and a veteran, he’s delivered for working families like his. It’s great to have him on the team. Now let’s get to work.

In his response, the 60-year-old confirmed his acceptance of the role.

It is the honor of a lifetime to join @kamalaharris in this campaign. I’m all in. Vice President Harris is showing us the politics of what’s possible. It reminds me a bit of the first day of school. So, let’s get this done, folks! Join us.

Walz was on a short list for the vice presidential candidate spot, along with fellow Democratic rising stars Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear.
