The Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Lokoja on Wednesday declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate as Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan, winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election conducted in February.

It also nullified the victory of All Progressives Congress Candidate, Senator Abubakar Ohere. Rotimi Ajayi, INEC returning officer for the district, had announced that Sadiku-Ohere garnered 52,132 votes to beat Natasha who had 51,763 votes.

Justice K. A. Orjiako, the Tribunal Chairman, presented the three-man panel’s unanimous ruling, confirming that Sen. Ohere’s results were inflated in nine polling units in the Ajaokuta Local Government Area.

He also stated that 3 other polling units’ results were deliberately not entered for Natasha in the same LGA while that of Natasha was intentionally reduced in the same 9 polling units by the INEC Ward Collation officers.

He further stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission reduced Natasha’s results in those regions and removed the results of three other polling units in the same LGA that were designated for Natasha.

Following the necessary revisions, the court proclaimed Natasha the election winner with 54,074 votes, outnumbering Ohere, who received 51,291 votes.
