7 Nigerian Female Celebrities Whose Deaths Shocked Everyone


Though nobody wants to die, death is no respecter of age, colour, wealth, or degree.

Over the years, some Nigerian female celebrities have passed on in their prime with their deaths coming as a shock to all.

These women were young and doing great things and it’s sad to see that they didn’t reach the peak of their respective careers.

Here are seven of such deaths that shook the country.

1. Tosyn Bucknor

Tosyn Bucknor’s death was one that really hit hard as she was loved by many and always full of life.

The 37-year-old OAP was found dead by her husband, Aurelien Boyer when he arrived home from work.

Bucknor died from her sickle cell complications on 19 November 2018.

2. Moji Olaiya

Moji Olaiya’s death came as a  shock to many especially as she was still nursing a baby.

The popular Yoruba actress died in Canada on May 17, 2017, two months after giving birth to her second daughter.

Although they were speculations that she was poisoned, her family came out to clear those rumors saying she died of a natural medical cause.

3. Kefee Obaseki Don Momoh

Irikefe Don-Momoh popularly known as Kefee died in the United States on June 12, 2014, after being in a coma for about a week.

Kefee had collapsed mid-air on a flight to Chicago for a performance before she slipped into a coma.

Reports showed that the Branama singer died of lung failure though the initial cause of death was rumored to be pre-eclampsia. She had remarried OAP Teddy Don Momoh two years before her tragic death.

4. Ibidun Ighodalo


Ibidun Ighodalo, ex-beauty queen and wife of popular Lagos pastor, Ituah Ighodalo died of a cardiac arrest on June 14, 2020.

The event planner had reportedly traveled to Port Harcourt for work.

She was set to turn 40 years on July 19.

5. Goldie Harvey

Susan Oluwabimpe Filani Harvey Famously known as ‘Goldie’ was a popular Nigerian singer who passed away on February 14, 2013, from hypertensive heart disease.

The 31-year-old had complained of a severe headache shortly after returning to Lagos from the US where she attended the Grammys.

She was rushed to a hospital in Lagos where she was pronounced dead.

6. Bisi Komolafe

Bisi Komolafe was a popular Yoruba actress who died on December 31, 2012.

The circumstances surrounding gained widespread speculations in the media. According to medical reports, she died of pregnancy-related complications at the University College Hospital Ibadan.

She was aged 26.

7. Aisha Abimbola

Aisha Abimbola was an actress popularly known as Omoge Campus.

The mother of two was reported to have died in Canada on May 16, 2018, after battling breast cancer.

She died at 42 years and was well known for her role in TV sitcom, Kamson and Neighbours..
