The United States of America is home to a lot of intelligent people whose origins can be traced to Nigeria.
The spotlight today is on three of such women who are making giant strides as they run for the position of judge. They are Olanike Adebayo, April Ademiluyi and Ngozi Akubuike.

1.Olanike Adebayo
Olanike Adebayo Olanike Adebayo is running for a judge at Miami-Dade County (Florida) 11th Circuit Court (Group 55).
She grew up as a biracial female in Chicago, Illinois where bringing justice to victims and defending the rights of others characterized her legal career.
However, she first realized the calling to serve in the area of criminal justice during one of her annual visits with her father in Nigeria where she was a firsthand witness to a crime that was reported to law enforcement but never investigated. Read more about her here

2. April Ademiluyi
April Ademiluyi is running for judge at Prince George’s County (Maryland) 7th Circuit Court.
Ademiluyi was born on April 25, 1981 in Baltimore, Maryland to African immigrants. She is a Prince George’s native, who attended Prince George’s County public schools. She received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Maryland College Park and a J.D. from George Mason University School of Law.
Her professional experience includes working as an attorney on cases involving foreclosures, real estate litigation, consumer protection class action litigation, bankruptcy, trademarks, copyrights, and patents. Read more about her here
3. Ngozi Akubuike
Ngozi Akubuike is running for judge at Ramsey Court (Minnesota).
She attended law school in Nigeria and obtained an LL.B and B.L., graduating with honours. Ngozi practiced law and later joined the banking sector prior to immigrating to the United States. Ngozi attended Mitchell Hamline law school, where she obtained her J.D.
She was on the Dean’s List and received awards from the Minnesota Black Lawyers Association, as well as a writing award from the Late Justice Donald P. Lawyer, and 8th Circuit appeals senior justice. Read more about her here
