Beyond the merriment and festivities associated with the holiday season, December is a period where some of the most anticipated Nollywood movies of the year are released. Here are some of the Nollywood movies you should look out for this December 2025.
1. Behind the Scenes

Set to be released on 12 December 2025, Behind the Scenes is a movie produced by Funke Akindele & co-directed by Tunde Olaoye and is one of the most anticipated movies of the holiday season.
The story follows Aderonke “Ronky-Fella” Faniran, a generous real estate mogul whose generosity backfires, forcing her to reassess her relationships and self-worth. It is the perfect mid-December release that combines holiday generosity with real-life drama.
The cast includes a range of A-list actors, including Funke Akindele herself, Fausat Balogun, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Dele Odule, Tobi Bakre, and more.
2. Oversabi Aunty

Directed by and starring Toyin Abraham, this film offers a combination of comedy and drama centered on a meddlesome aunt whose self-righteous meddling causes chaos—especially around a big family wedding.
This is the kind of festive, family-centric movie that resonates with many Nigerian households: lots of laughs + relational “wahala.” Great for a lighter, comedic holiday watch.
Some of the other cast members include Tana Adelana, Mike Ezunruonye, Jemima Osunde, Queen Nwokoye, Ngozi Ezeonu, and Efe Irele.
It is set to be released on 19 December 2025 (with advance screenings from December 18).
3. A Very Dirty Christmas

Produced by Ini Edo and described as a holiday film full of “family drama, Christmas chaos, and scandalous secrets.” This feels like the “holiday special” filled with high stakes, messy family, and scandal, and is likely to be a big draw for people looking for a Christmas-themed Naija story.
It is set to premiere on 16 December 2025.
4. King of Boys 3: The Beginning of the End

The next chapter in the King of Boys franchise will continue the saga of political power, revenge, and ambition. If you have watched King of Boys 1 & 2, then you will know why it is a holiday favorite and also one of the most anticipated movies of 2025.
Dropping on Christmas Day, it’s positioned as a major holiday release. For fans of the franchise, it’s likely the marquee film of December. King of Boys is produced by Kemi Adetiba.
