Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili, the presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), has just announced her withdrawal from the 2019 presidential race.
The former Minister of Education and former Vice President of the World Bank made the announcement in the early hours of Thursday, January 24, 2019.
I have decided to step down from the presidential race and focus on helping to build a Coalition for a viable alternative to the #APCPDP in the 2019 general elections.

According to her, the action was also prompted by an examination of the country’s electoral environment sequel to the 2019 presidential debate on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
As expected Ezekwesili’s announcement has stirred a hot conversation and debate on social media, as Nigerians are on different platforms, sharing their opinions about it.
In Nigeria’s History, there was never a woman like Dr. Mrs. Obiageli Ezekwesili. Like Nelson Mandela said “QUITTING IS LEADING TOO”. I’ve never seen such energy used upon Nigeria, no man ever used such energy too. Clearly, this is a powerful leader. Thank YOU @obyezeks

This I must say is a honourable decision. It is said the he who fight and run away live to fight another day. Wishing you the best as you keep the good fight blazing

Wow! How magnanimous can a human be!! I salute you, ma. You had my vote sealed…sadly but surely, I will support and vote whatever coalition you support.

This is long over due…..it is the only way #APCPDP can be defeated. Asked the avy Nigerian and they ll say they don’t want APC or PDP in power and yet it seems we are left with just the two of them. We need a stronger 3rd force and that’s the only way forward. Thanks for this.

Thanks ma for this, generations will remember your sacrifice for a better Nigeria.
Please I urge the other candidates to do the needful so we know who to vote for— BlessedBeyondMeasure (@Drmuzoic) January 24, 2019
But Madam Oby, isn’t this is a little too late? The presidential election is barely 3 weeks away. What good can come out of a coalition at this time?

What kind of joke is this one?…. 3rd force indeed

Declare for President.
Collect donations into millions.
Refuse to campaign.
Quit race.
Become richer.
Madam Oby Ezekwesili is a yahoo boy.

The truth is that Oby Ezekwesili has no electoral value, she can’t even win her local government. Infact, Kingsley Moghalu, Oby, Sowore and Fela can only defeat PDP & APC in a debate not on ballot

Huh??? I don’t understand…. You do this NOW at the 11th hour?? *sigh*
— Mademoiselle O. (@Orhieoghene) January 24, 2019
Oby Ezekwesili bows out of Presidential Race, Madam Oby has just destroyed the hopes of Nigeria having a female president ???
