Olori Atuwatse III, wife of the Olu of Warri, has opened up about her marriage, revealing her husband’s stance on polygamy and marrying multiple women.
She said this while speaking in an interview with BBC Pidgin, adding that she is like three women and is more than enough for him.
“First of all, His Majesty no go fit change im mind about polygamy, make we just settle dat one for dia,” she said.
She added humorously, “Me alone, one me, I be like three women, so I dey alright for am.
Olori Atuwatse III also spoke about her fashion choices and explained why she often covers her hair while carrying out her duties as queen.
She said her decision to cover her hair is not because she feels restricted in her dressing but out of respect for the office she occupies.
The Queen also spoke about her personal fashion choices, particularly her decision to frequently cover her hair with a turban.
She explained that the turban is more than a fashion accessory to her, describing it as her crown and a symbol of the office she occupies.
“Most pipo dey ask me say why I dey cover my hair. My turban na my crown, na so I dey see am,” she said.
“I like to dey cover my hair to just give respect to di office wey I get. And I no feel say I dey restricted,” she added.
According to her, her crown and clothing are part of the reason she chooses to cover her hair when she is in “queen mode.”
The queen also revealed that she plays a role in His Majesty’s fashion sense, jokingly saying, “I be my husband’s stylist.”

Olori Atuwatse III married the Olu of Warri in November 2014, and together they have three children.
