Onyinyechi Mark has won Nigeria’s first gold medal at the Paralympics in Paris in the women’s 61kg powerlifting category on Friday.
She also set a new record lifting 145kg surpassing the previous record held by compatriot Lucy Ejike. Onyinyechi also shattered the Paralympic record with her historic performance at La Chapelle Arena.
The 23-year-old’s gold medal becomes Nigeria’s third medal at the Paris Paralympics.
