Osas Ighodaro-Ajibade is a Nigerian-American beauty queen, TV host, actress, style influencer and humanitarian.

Early Life

Osariemen Martha Elizabeth Ighodaro was born 26th of October in Bronx, New York, United States, to Nigerian parents from Edo State.

 

Education

She graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism with dual minors in entrepreneurship and theater. She further obtained a master’s degree in fine arts from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University.

Career

In 2010, she won the Miss Black USA pageant where she represented Connecticut. As a beauty queen, Osas focused on heart disease which was a serious woman-killer in the state she represented.

After her reign, she starred in several films including “Killa Season”, “Across the Bloodied Ocean”, “Cadillac Records”, “The Tested”, and “Restless City”. As for television, she starred in “Conviction” and “Meet the Browns”.

She moved to Nigeria in 2012 with plans to spend just six months and return to the United States; she, however, got her big break in Tinsel and hasn’t moved back since then.

The following year, she starred in the web series “Parallels” and began hosting the “Maltina Dance All” reality show.


She has starred in “The Department” (2015), “Where Children Play” (2015), “Gbomo Gbomo Express” (2015), “Put a Ring on It” (2016), “Entreat” (2016), “A Walk in the Wind” (2016), and “Ratnik” (2016).

Personal Life

Osas met Gbenro Ajibade on the set of Tinsel and a relationship blossomed. In 2014, the couple got engaged during a vacation in New York. They got married on July 4, 2015 in New York two weeks after their traditional wedding in Benin and are blessed with a daughter.

Awards and Achievements

She was the winner of  Miss Black USA Pageant in 2010.

She won Best TV Actress of the Year at the 2014 ELOY Awards and also won the award for Brand Ambassador of the Year at the 2015 edition.

She won the Humanitarian award at the 2015 Green October La Mode Magazine Awards and Supporting Actress of the Year at the 2016 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

Osas ranked amongst the Top 3 National finalists in the American Black Film Festival/NBC Universal Star Project – monologue competition.

She founded The Joyful Joy Foundation, raising funds and awareness towards the fight against Malaria. She was motivated to start the foundation after she lost her sister and her unborn child to malaria.

Osas was named 2018’s ‘Highest Grossing Box Office Actress in the Nollywood (Nigeria’s film industry).

Osas has a number of brand endorsements. She is the brand ambassador for Medplus Pharmacy, Tremendac and most recently Glo, The telecommunications giant.
