10 Things You Didn’t Know About Patience Ibekwe Abdallah, Nigeria’s First Female Deputy Inspector General Of Police


Women are indeed making waves in Nigeria and around the world.

One of such women is Patience Ibekwe Abdallah who was recently  promoted to the post of Deputy Inspector General of Police alongside  side two others on Thursday, November 1st.

Among these officers, Patience is the only woman, meaning she is an inch closer to making history as Nigeria’s first female inspector-general of police.

This leading female is passionate about tackling crime across the country.


Here are 10 things you didn’t know about her:

1. She was born April 7, 1963

2. She is from Odoje in Onitsha, Anambra state.

3. Abdallah joined the police as a cadet officer 29 years ago.

4.She was appointed the commissioner of Police in Ebonyi state in 2015.

5. She introduced ‘Show of force’ and ‘Walk down crime’ in the state as tasks to eradicate crime.

6. She partnered with stakeholders for ‘Walk down crime’ and ‘Show of force’. They yielded positive results.

7. She sees security of lives and property as her first obligation.

8. She was titled “NNE Oma (good mother)”of Ebonyi State by the Okada Riders Union.

9. Mike Ibekwe, her father, retired as a commissioner of police. He was in charge of the old east central state shortly after the civil war ended in 1970.

10. She is married to Mustapha Abdallah, the chairman of NDLEA (National Drug Law Enforcement Agency).
