Tems has won her second Grammy Award in the Best African Music Performance category for her hit song ‘Love Me Jeje’. The 67th Grammy Awards took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday.

She beat Tomorrow by Yemi Alade, MMS by Asake featuring Wizkid, Sensational by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, and Higher by Burna Boy to secure her second Grammy win. She was also nominated for Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild) and Best R&B Song (Burning) at this year’s Grammys, bringing her career total to eight.

Taking the stage to deliver a heartfelt speech as she accepted the Best African Music Performance award, an emotional Tems expressed gratitude, saying,

“My heart is beating so fast; I’m so sorry. I do work out but it’s not coming; it’s not showing up right now.

“Dear God. Thank you so much for putting me on this stage and bringing me to this team.

“Tomorrow is my mum’s birthday and this is her first Grammys. I just want to thank you, mum, because she has really done a lot for me and my brother.

“Happy birthday mum. And I want to thank my team. Muyiwa, Wale, my beautiful stylist, Dunsin Wright and my lovely girls… I love you guys.

“Thank you so much. To God be the glory. Honestly, He has changed my life so much.”

Tems won her first Grammy Award in 2023 for “Wait For You” featuring Drake.
