Yvonne Okoro is a popular actress and entrepreneur from Ghana. The sultry actress has, however, made a name for herself in Nollywood and is quite well-known in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Early Life

She was born Chinyere Yvonne Okoro on November 25, 1984, in Accra, Ghana, where she grew up, to a Nigerian father and a Ghanaian mother.

She comes from a polygamous family; she is the firstborn of her mother and the fifth of all siblings.

 

She attended Achimota Preparatory School, Lincoln Community School, and then Faith Montessori School for her primary education. She proceeded to Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School for her secondary education.

She enrolled at the University of Ghana, Legon, where she did a Bachelor of Arts in English and linguistics. Subsequently, she studied Press Civilization, Drama, and Marketing at the Université de Nantes in France.

Career

She made her debut in the movie industry in the 2002 movie, Sticking to the Promise, right after her high school education. She also played a cameo role in the hit series Tentacles by the same producer. Her catapult to fame was in the movie. Beyoncé.

Yvonne has acted in over 150 movies to date, which include Queen Lateefah, Mother’s Love, Beyonce: The President’s Daughter, The Return Of Beyonce, The President’s Daughter, Queen Of Dreams, ‘Le Hotelier’ in France, Pool Party, Single Six, Four Play, Four Play Reloaded, just to mention a few.

Awards and Achievements

She has bagged a lot of awards in her career. In 2010, she won the Ghana Movie Awards Best Actress Award and was nominated for the Africa Movie Academy Awards Best Actress twice in a row in 2011 and 2012 for her movies Pool Party and Single Six.

She was honoured with a Distinguished Achievement Award at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in 2012. She also won four Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards in 2013 for her first self-produced film, Contract, including Best Movie of the year.

Her movie ‘Ghana Must Go’ also got six nominations at the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), but she didn’t win any.

She is the CEO of the multi-million dollar production company Demasour. She’s also currently the host of Dining with Cooks and Braggarts, a celebrity cooking show.

Personal Life

Yvonne has been linked to lots of celebrities; some of them include Togolese soccer star Emmanuel Adebayor and Ghanaian singer Sarkodie, but she always debunks the rumors.
