Body Measurement Guide

Ever bought a stunning outfit only to find out later that you don’t fit into it or do you just want to know your body measurement for your next fashion shopping online? This guide will help you know how to get the perfect measurement suited for your body size and type.

When purchasing clothes online, the key is to determine your correct size by taking your accurate body measurements to avoid unpleasant surprises.

A good fit looks stunning but is also comfortable. Dresses, tops, jackets, and blouse sizes are determined by chest (bust) measurement while waist measurement determines your skirt and trouser size.

If your measurement falls between two sizes, then choose a smaller size if you are small-boned or need a closer fit. If you are large-boned or prefer a looser fit, then get the larger size.

To get a perfect fit, when measuring, hold the tape snug but not tight around the body and follow our step-by-step guide:

How to Measure Neck

Gently place a finger on the front of your neck and swallow to feel a lump after you swallow and measure your neck round from just below that point.

How to Measure Chest (Bust)

Stand with your feet together. Hold tape not too tight across the fullest part of your chest, under your arm, straight across the back, and measure.

How to get the perfect Waistline

When measuring your waist, don’t tuck in your stomach and stand erect in a natural position. Position the measuring tape starting from your belly button around your waistline firmly but not too tight and read the point on the tape measure that meets the end. Leave one finger under the tape to get your perfect size and also to be comfortable when you wear the skirt and dress.

Measuring your Hips

Stand with your feet close together. Look out for the widest part of your hip or buttocks, whichever spot above your thigh is the largest. Wrap the tape around the widest area but it should not be too tight or loose to get your perfect size and you can take a second measurement, to ensure accuracy.

The Perfect Inseam Measurement

Take your favorite trouser that fits you perfectly, smooth the crease on the front back, and lay the trouser flat back. Measure along the inside leg from the crotch to the bottom hem of the trousers to get your size.

How to Measure Sleeve Length

Relax your arm at your sides and slightly bend to measure from center back neck over shoulder point, down the outside of the arm to the wrist.

Brand sizes are designed to fit the following body measurements: Some brands may vary from these measurements but you can still use them as a guide.
