Chennel “Jazzy“ Rowe, a black student at the University of Hartford has revealed that she was poisoned over and over again by her roommate until she moved out.

Chennel was a freshman student and roommate of Brianna Brochu, and even though the two were not best of friends, she assumed that the other girl was harmless.

However, unknown to her, Brochu had been poisoning her slowly all along.

Talking about the horrific incident, Chennel wrote:

“While I’ve been here I’ve been getting sick. Not knowing why I’ve been getting sick.

It started with throat pain. I thought maybe because it’s colder up here, I’m just catching a cold. After a month it got to the point where I had extreme throat pain that I couldn’t sleep, to the point where I couldn’t speak.

I’m spending my own money that my parents give me for food and groceries, the health centre on campus is not free – in fact they’re expensive.”

She also added that the tests came out negative, and the campus doctor prescribed antibiotics for the bacteria in her throat.

Chennel decided to move out when she could not tolerate her roommate’s constant disrespect, like Brochu turning out the light while she worked.

She was moving out when some friends stopped her and showed her an Instagram post of Brochu.

A twitter user also shared a video of Chennel narrating her ordeal and the video has over 12,000 retweets already.

Chennel promptly reported to the school authorities, and her room mate was immediately arrested by the West Hartford Police Department and, according to the school authorities, her case is proceeding through legal process.
