On the first of October, 2018, which was Nigeria’s Independence Day, DJ Cuppy posted a picture of herself to commemorate the independence and it provoked mixed reactions from fans and people on social media.

In the Instagram post, she said:
“Today, we experience the pride and joy of being called NIGERIANS! The greatest nation. Happy Independence Day!”
