Bread is a popular staple in almost every Nigerian home. However, not every home has an oven or can afford one.

If you are in that category where you don’t have access to an oven, then this post will be useful to you.

Ingredients

– 4 levelled cups flour
– 4 levelled tbsp butter
– 1 tbsp yeast
– 1 cup warm milk
– 1/4 cup sugar
– 2 Eggs
– 1/2 tsp Salt

– 1 egg for egg wash
– 1 tbsp sugar for yeast

These Baking Hacks Will Come In Handy When There’s No Oven

Preparation

1. Dissolve the yeast and 1tbsp sugar in warm milk.
2. Mix melted butter and eggs together in another bowl and set aside.
3. In a big bow mix flour, salt, sugar together and make a well in the middle.
4. Pour yeast mix and butter mix into the well.
5. Mix nicely until you form a dough ball.
6. Place dough ball on a floured board and knead for 10 minutes.
7. Place into an oiled bowl, oil the top of the dough and cover, then allow to proof in a warm corner for 1 hour.
8. Flatten dough then cut into 12 pieces.
9. Form into balls.
10. Place into a thick bottomed pan lined with parchment paper. Cover pan with the lid and allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
11. Brush with egg wash.
12. Cover with a tight lid and Place over very low heat on the gas top.
13. Cook for 10 minutes, then flip over the bread.


To flip, put a flat tray on the pan, turn the pan over, place pan back on the counter, place back the parchment paper on the bottom of the pan then slide the uncooked side of the bread back into the pan. Then cook for 3 to 5 minutes.

14. Place on a wrack to cool a bit.
