1. Know your hair type

One thing you should know is that, products that are mild and gentle are the best because your hair is fragile. You also have to buy a product that is pH-balanced to prevent your hair from drying out and damaging it. Use lukewarm water to wash your hair.

Conditioners give the hair protein, moisture and restores strength to the hair for a short period of time. Deep conditioning is also good for the hair. Note that, shampoo and conditioner with sulfate and silicon.

4. Hair styling

When you want to comb your hair, start from the end/tip of your hair. Do not comb straight down from the roots. It will make your hair form a mass of small, tight wirly curls that extends in all directions. Do not comb your hair every day as excessive combing breaks the hair.

Use a satin or silk pillowcase or you can tie your hair with a silk or satin scarf before you sleep. The scarf and pillowcase retains the hair moisture unlike the cotton pillow case we use. Using protein treatment can also make your hair healthy. It will not allow your hair break, have excess moisture and it will make it shine.

Natural hair can have split ends so endeavor to check your hair for them regularly. If you don’t trim off split ends, you are paving a way for the damage to crawl up to the hair shaft.
