Joselyn Dumas is a Ghanaian television host and actress.

Early life

Joselyn was born Joselyn Canfor Dumas in Ghana on August 31st, 1980. She spent her early childhood in Accra, Ghana where she had her basic education at Morning Star School.

She was raised single-handedly by her mother, Bridget Dumas, a woman she very much adores and expresses endless gratitude for the upbringing she was given. After her basic education, Joselyn attended Archbishop Porter Girls High School where she was made the Entertainment prefect, a position that allowed her to develop her entertainment talent and skills.

After high school, she traveled to the United States where she studied for 8 years and graduated with a Degree in Administrative Law. She returned to Ghana afterward.

Career

In 2008, Kofi Okyere Darko, a radio presenter, introduced Joselyn to the media industry. He took her to CharterHouse where she became a host on a TV show called ‘Rhythmz’ that involved exclusive interviews with celebrities.

Her acting career started with her role in ‘Perfect Picture’, which impressed the director and opened doors to consequent key characters in other movies.

Two years later, she starred in the movie ‘Adams Apples’ by Shirley Frimpong-Manso. She was later designated for best actress in a lead role with Kimberly Elise at the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards making her more popular with viewers. She has had major roles in various movies and series. She has worked with some of the biggest names including her ex-boyfriend John Dumelo and OC Ukeje.

She was headhunted by the defunct TV Network, ViaSat 1 to host their first own-produced flagship Talk show, The One Show from 2010 to 2014.

Some of the movies she has been in include ‘Adam’s Apples, ‘A Sting In A Tale’, ‘Peep’, ‘Lekki Wives’, ‘The Cartel’ and ‘ Silver Rain’ among others. She is always exceptional while playing each role she is allocated.

Joselyn is the founder and CEO of Virgo Sun Company Limited. With the company, she co-produced the movie, “Lover or Something Like That”, which was sanctioned by the UNAIDS. She also co-produced the Miss Malaika Ghana, a prestigious pageant from 2008 to 2010.

Dumas was featured as the bride in Lynxx’s hit song “Fine Lady” featuring Wizkid.

Awards

Her role in ‘Adams Apples’ where she acted as Jennifer Adams, the lead character got her a nomination for best actress.

The actress has won 9 awards including ‘Best Entertainment Host of the Year’, ‘Outstanding Personality in Creative Entrepreneurship’, ‘Stellar Contribution to the Movie & Media Industry in Africa’, and ‘Female Entertainment Host of the Year’.

Personal life

Joselyn is a proud mother of a beautiful girl, Senia Dumas (born in the United States) who is an exact look-alike of her mother.

The actress who is single mo confesses that it is her duty to protect her daughter and keep her away from the public.

She claimed that her age and her inexperienced nature were the reasons for her divorce. Despite being beautiful, rich, and famous, she is not yet ready to settle down.
