All The Things You Should Know About Moji Adeyeye, The New NAFDAC DG

We are celebrating another monumental achievement by a woman, as Professor Moji Christianah Adeyeye has been named the new Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, by President Buhari.

In our usual manner of recognizing outstanding women who are doing us proud in their field of endeavor, we have put together a biography of this amazing woman.

Education

Prof. Moji Adeyeye earned her B.S., M.S., and PhD from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria, and the University of Georgia, Athens, GA, respectively. At the University of Georgia, she studied pharmaceutics and industrial pharmacy from 1982 to 1988.

Career

From August 1989 to June 1994, she was an assistant professor of pharmaceutics and manufacturing science at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. Not one to settle, in July 1994, she became an associate professor of pharmaceutics and manufacturing science at Duquesne University, a position she held till June 2003. Then, from July 2003 to 2010, she was a professor of pharmaceutics and manufacturing science, still at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, making a total of 21 years with the institution.

In May 2010, she became the founding chair of biopharmaceutical sciences and professor of pharmaceutics and drug product evaluation at the College of Pharmacy, Roosevelt University, in Schaumburg, Illinois. She held the post till August 2017.

She is also the founder of a socially conscious start-up company, Elim Pediatric Pharmaceuticals.

Recognition And Achievements

Professor Moji is a senior Fulbright scholar and specialist and a 2008 AAPS fellow. In the course of her career, she has mentored over 15 PhD and M.S. candidates. She has 5 patents, 55 peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters and books, and more than 140 scientific presentations.

Personal Life

She is married to Senator Olusola Adeyeye of Osun Central, and she will be taking over duties from Mr. Ademola Andrew Magbojuri.
