Everything You Should About Beautiful Actress, Monalisa Chinda As She Turns 45


When you think of Nollywood, one of the names you will remember is none other than veteran actress, Monalisa Chinda.

Asides acting she is also a movie producer, television personality and writer.

Here are some facts about the beautiful actress as she turns a year older.

Early Life

Monalisa Chinda was born on September 13, 1974 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to an Ikwerre father and an Igbo mother.

She is the firstborn in her family of two sons and four daughters.

Education

She attended Army Children’s School GRA for Primary and then Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls’ School, Elelenwo both in Port Harcourt.

She obtained a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Port Harcourt.

Career

Monalisa’s first major movie was Pregnant Virgin, which she did in 1996 as an undergraduate.

It was, however, in 2007 her big break came when she featured in the popular television soap Heaven’s Gate.

She debuted as Executive Producer in the Royal Arts Academy movie, ‘Kiss & Tell’, which Emem Isong co-produced with her and Desmond Elliot directed in 2011.

She featured in other movies like Royal Grandmother, Sting 2Critical Truth, Keeping my Man, Anointed Liars, Breaking Heart and Without Goodbye.

In 2012, she became one of the first of four Nollywood actors to be featured on the cover of Hollywood Weekly Magazine.


She launched her self titled magazine, Monalisa Chinda magazine and her Talk Show titled ‘You & I with Monalisa” in 2014.

She has a column (Monalisa Code) in the Saturday edition of The Sun Newspapers where she writes on social issues and relationships.

She is a consultant with Royal Arts Academy, a media school known for breeding new talents, in acting, directing, and screenwriting.’

Personal Life

Monalisa got married to her first husband, Segun Dejo-Richards in 2004.

The marriage, however, crashed in 2009 on the allegations of domestic violence and abuse.

They have a daughter together named Tamar.

She found love again in the arms of Victor Tonye Coker whom she said she had known since 14. They married in February 2016.

Awards

Monalisa won Best Actress, Afro Hollywood Award at the Monte Carlo Television Festival in 2009.

She was nominated for the Best Actress in a drama series at the Terracotta TV and Film Awards in 2010.

She was  crowned the Face of Port Harcourt – Carnival Queen, in her hometown of Rivers State in 2011.

Endorsements

She signed a multi-million naira endorsement deal with GLOBACOM. In 2013, the deal was renewed following its expiration.

She signed an endorsement deal as the face of Vita500 in 2011. The deal was said to be worth 30million naira.
